The idea was to place the chair at the end of the top of the table, as though it were thinking about jumping off. But in the construction of it, it somehow morphed into a minotaur-looking form. As I put it together I decided not to remove the printed numbers on the stock. Feeling as though I should acknowledge the numbers, I added them up in order and the total was seventeen. Then I wondered how many pieces were in the construction. Turns out there are seventeen. So, I stamped 17 on the back side of one of the posts. Then I thought I should write a haiku (seventeen syllables). It's a unique and satisfying experience to discover a work of art, while making it. The fly was added for grins.
